Biography
Jaime Angulo
Born in Campo de Criptana, Spain, Jaime Angulo moved to the United States in his youth, where he developed a distinguished career spanning real estate, architecture, media, and cultural leadership. After working as a successful real estate agent, he earned his degree in Architecture from the University of Miami in 1982 and became a registered architect in the state of Florida.
Angulo was also a pioneer in Spanish-language media in Florida. He hosted a news program on WINK-TV in Fort Myers and wrote a weekly column for the Fort Myers News-Press. In 1996 he founded Hispania magazine, serving Florida’s growing Hispanic community, and that same year he launched the Miami Latin Film Festival, which he directed for a decade (1996–2006). Under his leadership, the festival became an important platform for Latin American cinema in the United States, an achievement recognized when he received the Key to Miami-Dade County from Mayor Alex Penelas.
During this period, he also advised Venevisión International on film distribution, founded Mercavisión, an initiative created to connect Latin American filmmakers with U.S. distributors, and served as a jury member at several Ibero-American film festivals. He was also the founding Secretary General of the Association of Ibero-American Film Festivals (AFFCI).
This multidisciplinary career laid the foundation for Angulo’s distinctive artistic vision, in which architectural structure, cultural narrative, and visual rhythm converge.
Painting
Since 2006, Angulo has devoted himself fully to artistic creation. His abstract paintings explore movement, balance, and layered compositions, guiding the viewer’s eye through vibrant color fields that radiate energy while ultimately resolving into calm and harmony. Each work invites contemplation, offering a visual journey that moves from intensity toward stillness.
Sculpture
His iron sculptures translate these principles into three-dimensional space. Bold and dynamic in character, they explore the dialogue between mass and void, stability and motion, offering both a physical and contemplative experience for viewers.
Artistic Vision
Jaime Angulo’s work reflects a lifetime of diverse experiences. His practice combines architectural precision, cultural awareness, and artistic intuition. Through his paintings and sculptures, he invites viewers to sense rhythm, explore layers of meaning, and discover stillness within movement.
